The Grey Rose nickel-cobalt occurrence consists of carbonate veins hosted within the fine-grained diorite and fine-grained granite phases of the Late Devonian Forest Kerr Pluton (McLymont Plutonic Suite). The area is associated with a zone of white mica and kandite alteration. Veins and fractures locally display a vibrant green mineral which may be fuchsite or mariposite. Mineralization is hosted within carbonate veins, although cross-cutting relationships suggest later carbonate veining is also present. Nickeline, cobaltite, and gersdorffite are present within the veining while malachite and erythrite occurs on fracture surfaces.

In 2019, work completed by Crystal Lake Mining Corp. resulted in soil and rock geochemical analyses that led to newly discovered occurrences and to a multi-element geochemical anomaly spread over an 8 kilometre by 4 kilometre footprint (the Chachi Corridor) spatially associated with the McLymont Fault structure. An Induced Polarization (IP) ground geophysics survey completed in 2019 has detected a chargeable conductive anomaly within the soil chemical anomalies and occurrences in the footwall of the Mclymont Fault. Over 2000 soil samples, 2000 hyperspectral measurements, and 800 rock samples were collected from the area. Anomalous areas in the Chachi Corridor include high-grade gold-silver-copper sulphide at the new Leo discovery (104B 717), high-grade silver, zinc, copper, lead with barite in the Cuba-Thumper Trend (104B 334,440,445) and high-grade nickel, cobalt, copper, silver arsenide/sulphide associated with stockwork copper sulphide mineralization in the new Brass Rose (104B 723) and Grey Rose occurrences.

Multiple outcrop samples of various vein generations were reported. One sample graded 3.2 per cent nickel, 0.57 per cent cobalt, 1.3 grams per tonne gold, and 1.5 grams per tonne silver; follow-up chip-channel sampling (not continuous) yielded 2.0 metres of 2.8 per cent nickel, 0.50 per cent cobalt, 0.13 gram per tonne gold, and 9.8 grams per tonne silver (Crystal Lake Mining Corp., News Release, Oct.10, 2019). Another 2.0 metre chip graded 0.61 per cent copper, 0.04 per cent cobalt, 79.53 grams per tonne silver, and 0.66 per cent zinc (ibid.).

Crystal Lake reports that there is a general nickel-cobalt enrichment across a wide range of samples throughout the Chachi Corridor proximal to the IP conductivity/chargeability feature.
